ARTICLE 2: Judgement and Rewards

E- Earthly journey will be judged

He will judge everyone according to what they have done. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. Romans 2:6-7

Our time spent on earth is only a temporary preparation for eternity, and God will require each one of us to give an account of everything we do here on earth.

The first judgment will be for those who have received Christ and have their names written in the book of life and those who rejected salvation. When a person becomes saved, they come into Christ. Their names are written in the book of life. These ones will be separated to eternal life with God. The rest of the world, who didn’t deem it necessary to accept the gospel, will be cast into eternal damnation. This is why we warn everyone to receive what God offers.

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:31-34

The second judgment will be for those who have believed, to receive a reward for our deeds whether good or bad.

Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth] or away from home [and with Him], it is our [constant] ambition to be pleasing to Him. For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives—the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities]. 2Cor 5:9-10 (Amplified Bible)

R – Rewards will be given.

Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on [it] endures, he will receive a reward. 1 Corinthians 3:13-14.

Not every deed a believer does will earn a reward. The essence of the judgment of the believers is to reward our good deeds done in line with the will of God. The will of God is that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (of who God and what he accomplished in Christ). It is therefore important that everything we do as believers should be to advance the will of God on earth.

The rewards which await every faithful child of God are;

  1. Apostle Paul in His letter to the Thessalonians speaks of a crown of Men, men who we got saved and those we instructed in the ways of God (Discipleship).

“After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you! Yes, you are our pride and joy”. 1 Thess 2:19-20

  1. Jesus Himself promised that those who are faithful will inherit the kingdom of God

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. Matt 25:34

Oh! What great joy it will be when we stand before our heavenly father to receive His glorious welcome and commendation. Hallelujah!
