PLANNING.

This is the first quarter visit in the year 2017. We had discussed certain matters concerning the outreach with our USA sponsors who visited Nigeria during our last quarter visit but could not make it to the outreach because their flight was delayed.

Our first quarter outreach was to go as usual, but during this visitation we were to make a detailed enquiry concerning the medical needs of the children, because it is intended that our 2017 2nd and 3rd outreach will be devoted to the medical upkeep of the children.

Our Enugu State based purchasing officer was not available this time so we had to work with an alternative. We contracted a lady who is familiar with the market in Enugu to accompany the team leader to the market for the purchases. Her involvement actually made the purchasing easier and faster.

EXECUTION

As usual our team visited the orphanage home, this first quarter of 2017, to present our gifts to them.

We had already decided from our last visit that we will offer medical support to the special needs children in the orphanage. So while we interacted with all the kids, we also discussed the medical needs of the kids from the matron.

It was during this visit that the matron of the orphanage, Sister Agnes, introduced us to a child with a neurological deformity, who had not been receiving necessary medical attention as a result of financial insufficiency. This child who is called Mary was abandoned by her parents probably because of the deformity and she has received very little medical attention, because her case required specialists.

This child will be the focus of our medical support in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the year 2017.

We also got the least of the routine drugs and supplements that the children need, we will also support in the supply of these drugs.

The matron thanked the fourth Man foundation, for the good work, and prayed that God continued to enable us to do better.

RECOMENDATIONS

  • We think it is time for the Foundation to have branded T-shirts which the team will wear during outreaches.
  • We mentioned last time that it is good to get some children’s educational toys for these kids; it will be good if this is implemented.

NEXT STEP

  • 2nd and 3rd Quarter outreach will be specifically devoted to the medical support of the child with the neurological deformity.
